Is Trip.com Safe?
I’ve been using Trip.com for over four years, and have made plenty of bookings through them. That includes hotels, flights, AND attractions.
I’ve only ever had one booking which fell through, and that wasn’t Trip’s fault (I wrote about that situation in this post).
They collect only the personal information needed for your booking, such as your name and contact information. Some countries do require a passport number to book a hotel (China does). Most flights also require a passport.
Overall, their app and website work pretty much like any other booking platform. Trip.com is efficient, safe, and smooth.
Can I trust The Bookings I make on Trip.com?
Are the hotels actually like the photos? Is what I see really what I get?
In regards to hotels…well, they’re always a gamble! It’s not uncommon for hotels to post photos which are nicer than reality.
One thing I loved about Trip.com in China and Thailand was that most hotels had TONS of photos in the reviews. And customer photos don’t lie! I’d rarely book a hotel which didn’t have review photos.
But in America, reviews tend not to have photos quite as often. So the Trip.com app actually pulls reviews from other major booking platforms.
For example: if someone posted a review of a hotel with photos on Expedia, when you’re looking at that same hotel on Trip, you’ll see reviews from Expedia, as well as Trip’s own reviews. I love that!
It’s really, REALLY easy to check the validity of the hotel you’re booking through! All of their contact info, reviews, and policies are clear and easy to read on the Trip.com app.
Flight bookings work just like any other website. I wrote an entire post about Trip.com flights if you’d like to read more about that! (Spoiler: I LOVED my flight experience with Trip.com!!)
All in all, I’ve felt very safe making bookings through Trip.com. And I’ve used them on three continents now!
Are Payments I Make on Trip.com Safe?
If you want to read Trip.com’s payment policies for yourself, you can do so at this link!
I’ve usually used WeChat (China’s payment app) to pay for bookings. But I’ve also used a visa credit card to book hotels, and it works just fine!
Until now, I’ve never had issues with my payments! Trip.com takes appropriate precautions to make sure that your personal and payment information remains safe.
As mentioned earlier, you can read the details on Trip.com’s website here!
Summary
Trip.com is a fully legitimate, safe to use travel platform. I’ve been using them for years, and I will happily keep doing so!
Is Trip.com safe to use for your next trip? Definitely! Have your own experiences to share? Let’s talk all about them in the comments!
