How does Trip.com work? And with SO many travel apps and websites in the game, why should you even bother checking it out? Answers to these juicy questions in this post!

How Does Trip.com Work?

Trip.com touts itself as your “All-In-One” travel app. And to be totally honest, that’s exactly what it is!

(Read my post: Trip.com Reviews from a Grateful Traveler!)

The app’s HQ is in Singapore, so while they can be used worldwide, they are WAY above other travel apps when it comes to traveling in Asia especially! That’s actually why I fell in love with them.

I’ve used Trip.com to book flights, train tickets, hotels (on 3 different continents), and experiences.

Something that I LOVE about Trip.com is how you can just search a city, and it will take you to a page where you can search hotels, restaurants, attractions, and SO much more just from that city’s page!

Stress-Free Travel Tickets With Trip

I actually started using Trip.com initially because it was the ONLY way that I could book train tickets online in China as a foreign passport holder!

So it started with train tickets…and then obviously morphed into so much more, to the point that it’s basically the ONLY travel app I use at this point.

It wasn’t until this last year that I booked flight tickets with Trip.com…and let’s just say that I SO wish I’d done that sooner! I wrote all about my AMAZING Trip.com flight experience in THIS POST.

So how do flights or train tickets on Trip.com work? Pretty much like any other travel site!

First, you search your flight route, compare prices, baggage options, etc. And then you book and pay, using credit card, Apple Pay, WeChat, or any other supported payment platform!

After you book, Trip will update you via push-notifications (if you’re using the app) or email about ANY changes that happen to your flight, such as delays or cancellations.

Plus, it will remind you to check in and also to arrive at the airport/train station with time to spare. You’ll ALWAYS be kept abreast of the latest developments on your bookings!

Trip.com’s flight and train booking experience is a 10/10 for ease of use, reliability, and staying up to date on your booking!

Trip.com: The Hotel Super-App!

I have used Trip.com for hotels more than ANYTHING else. Why? Because they are the MOST straightforward booking app out there!

I wrote about the Trip.com hotel experience in THIS POST. Hotels are probably my FAVORITE part of Trip.com!

One of my favorite hotel search features is the “Map” viewing option. You can easily see where hotels are, and what the prices of each hotel are. So if you know which part of a city you’ll need to be in, this feature is great!

With Trip.com, each hotel’s page has it’s own policies clearly laid out, as well as all of the information you could need!

When you find the hotel you like, you can easily view all of the room options. Pricing varies depending on how you book! If you book a no-cancellation option, it may be a bit cheaper than a free-cancellation option.

See all from the year the hotel was built, to amenities, to reviews!

Plus there are breakfast add-ons (for hotels which provide it) and some other options, all of which are easily accessed from the hotel’s page!

It’s SO straightforward to book hotels on Trip.com; you’ll do minimal work and get GREAT options!

How Do Rewards on Trip.com Work?

This is the BEST part of Trip.com in my opinion, so hang in there with me!

EVERY time you complete a hotel booking, flight booking, or train booking, you get some “Trip Coins” depending on how long the hotel stay/flight/train is.

PLUS, if you leave a review at the end of your hotel stay, you’ll get even more Trip coins.

Over time, these add up. But the BEST way to get Trip Coins rolling in is by posting something called “Trip Moments”!

An example of some Trip Moment posts!

On it’s app, Trip.com has a sort of in-app “Social Media”, where people can post about hotels, sites, and cities they’ve visited. This is DIFFERENT from reviews, and the potential coin earnings are MUCH higher!

Over the years, I paid for SEVERAL of our hotel stays using JUST my Trip coins which I’d earned.

Plus, they run contests for free hotel stays, Trip Coin packages, and so on–and all you have to do is post to enter!

(I actually WON one of Trip.com’s FREE Hotel Stays earlier this year, and wrote about it in THIS POST!)

If you’re willing to do the work of posting reviews and moments, you can earn BIG rewards on Trip.com!

Trip.com’s Customer Service

Lastly, I just want to touch on Trip.com’s customer service, because that is a HUGE part of the travel booking experience.

I wrote an ENTIRE post about Trip.com’s customer service HERE, but I’ll reiterate a bit if you don’t have time to read it!

Trip’s customer service is TOP NOTCH. Not only can you chat live with a representative in the app, but if you call them, you’ll quickly get connected to a REAL person who will help!

I’ve written about the several times I had travel issues and had to contact Trip.com in this post. To summarize, I’ll just say that they are not only extremely helpful, but also very personable, kind, and patient.

Having such INCREDIBLE customer service is one of those things that keeps me with Trip.com. I know I’m in good hands with them!

Summary

These posts about Trip.com which I’ve been writing and sharing are NOT sponsored (though the links to Trip.com that I share are affiliate links). I genuinely LOVE this app, and want to share it with my travel friends!

The ability to book so easily, with so much information, and to also earn rewards while traveling is HUGE.

If you came to this post wondering IF Trip.com will work, or HOW Trip.com works, then I hope you got your answers! It’s a FANTASTIC travel app, and definitely provides the all-in-one experience it advertises.
